The IPAF 3b Operator course is designed for those who need to operate mobile boom MEWPs, such as cherry pickers and articulated or telescopic booms, safely and effectively.

Course Structure
The training includes a classroom-based theory session and a practical hands-on assessment. Delivered at our training centre by IPAF-certified instructors.

- Construction workers, contractors, and site operatives
- Facility management staff
- Maintenance and installation engineers
- Anyone who operates mobile boom lifts as part of their role

Course Content

- Legislation & Regulations: PUWER, LOLER, HASAWA, and Working at Height Regulations
- MEWP Category Focus: Safe use of mobile boom platforms (3b)
- Pre-Use Inspections: Carrying out checks and identifying/reporting defects
- Safe Operating Practices: Setting up, manoeuvring, and operating booms in varied environments
- Hazard Awareness: Identifying risks such as overhead obstructions, ground stability, and adverse weather
- Emergency Procedures: Correct use of ground controls and safe rescue plans
- Practical Operation: Hands-on training and supervised practical assessment

Certification
Successful candidates will receive an IPAF PAL card valid for 5 years, endorsed for category 3b.
