The IPAF 3a Operator course provides essential training for anyone needing to operate mobile vertical MEWPs, such as scissor lifts and vertical lifts, in a safe and effective manner.

The training includes both a classroom-based theory session and a practical assessment. The course is delivered at our training facility by IPAF-approved instructors.

Course Content

- Legislation & Regulations: PUWER, LOLER, HASAWA, and Working at Height Regulations
- MEWP Category Focus: Safe use of mobile vertical platforms (3a)
- Pre-Use Inspections: Safety checks and reporting procedures
- Safe Operating Practices: Positioning, travelling, and using scissor/vertical lifts in various environments
- Hazard Awareness: Avoiding risks such as overhead obstructions, ground conditions, and weather factors
- Emergency Procedures: Use of ground controls and rescue planning
- Practical Operation: Hands-on training and supervised assessment to demonstrate competence

Certification
Successful candidates will receive an IPAF PAL (Powered Access Licence) card valid for 5 years, endorsed for category 3a.
